I joined Art Tribe in January 2022. Not very long ago but I have been following Louise Fletcher on YouTube, Facebook and for over a year, her podcast with fellow artist Alice Sheridan called Art juice.
Louise is from Yorkshire and has had a fascinating life and yet is very down to earth. I love her matter of fact way of putting things and yet it is never rude, its with kindness and thoughtfulness.
Her group called Art Tribe is a subscription based group. I pay £18 a month to belong (as from 2022). For this I get the opportunity to learn so much at a pace that suits me. I can nip in and out to learn new skills, hear advice from fellow artists as well as Louise. And we also can join live chats, Q&A's etc and there are art classes. Well worth the money, I can assure you.
Louise quite rightly says that her super power is to encourage fellow artists from all abilities to find their own voice. This can be very daunting for a newbie and for those who are stuck with a style and way of thinking they may have been formally trained to do.
Why are you telling us about this?
Well, its because I think those of us who are creative are very often lonely and could do with knowing they are not alone. But it is also very obvious from my years of struggle that to find the right advice for artists is very fragmented and often confusing, for those of us who want to use our art, as a way of living.
But there are free groups on Facebook, why pay for this one?
I may have thought that a couple of years ago but groups on any social media platform is like meeting up with a few people (some friends, some strangers) over a coffee. You may show each other your work but nobody really knows how to take it any further.
Art Tribe is like a formal college with a couple of exceptions. One, it is at your own pace, there is no strict timetables and schedules. And secondly, you don't have to jump through exam/assignment hoops to get a certificate at the end of it.
Are you getting paid to tell us this?
No. I just love the group and wanted to spread the word.
I hope this helps and that you find a way to improve your art too.
