– A Year of Creative Exploration

If you’ve ever wanted to understand how to use acrylic paint, colour mixing, try new painting tools, or simply enjoy a relaxed day of creativity, my Saturday Art Workshops are designed especially for you.

These workshops run one Saturday a month, from 10am to 3pm, at the Long Eaton Art Room, forming a full year of subject-led sessions.  Each month focuses on a different landscape theme, giving you the chance to build confidence, skills, and a varied body of work over time.

What We’ll Explore

Each workshop covers a range of core painting skills, including:

  • Colour mixing and blending

  • Palette knife techniques

  • Mark making

  • Choosing the right tools for each stage of a painting

  • Understanding background, middle ground, and foreground

I teach by demonstrating every step, from the first marks on the canvas through to the final details. You’ll always know what to do, why you’re doing it, and which technique works best at each stage.

Who Are the Workshops For?

These workshops are perfect for beginners and for anyone who wants to try something new or loosen up their approach to painting. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.

My Teaching Style

My classes are friendly, supportive, and encouraging. I don’t believe in correcting or taking over your work. Instead, my approach is to help, not hinder—guiding you forward while allowing your own style to develop naturally.

Classes are kept small, so I can give attention to every participant throughout the day and support you whenever you need it.

What’s Included

  • All painting materials provided

  • Step-by-step demonstrations

  • A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere

  • Individual support throughout the session

What to Bring

Just a few simple items:

  • An apron (or old clothes)

  • An old rag

  • A carrier bag – many paintings are still wet at the end of the day and need to get home safely

  • Lunch – we normally have half an hour midday and free drinks throughout

Booking Information

All dates can be found on the Lessons page.

Email me on nicolacrookart@gmail.com to book a place or ask me any questions.

If you’re looking for a creative day out, a chance to learn new techniques, and a warm, encouraging space to paint, I’d love to welcome you to one of my Saturday workshops.
