I don't always use paint brushes

Updated: Jul 6, 2022

I don't always use brushes

Sometimes its fun to use other tools to see what I can do with them. In this painting called 'Bluebell Wood' I used an old debit card and the result created wonderful textures and unexpected shapes.

I've also used in other paintings:

  • Palette knives

  • Cake making spatula (no longer used for making cakes)

  • Sticks

  • Feathers

  • Credit/debit/store cards

  • Plastic shapes cut from the above cards

  • Fingers (best to use gloves for safety)

  • Trowels

And I'm sure I will find new and exciting tools to use in the future.

Do you love to paint?

Have you always used the traditional brushes?

Why not try something different. Don't expect everything to work or for it to be perfect first time. Trying new things is what will help you reach the techniques and style all of your own. And if its not for you and you hanker for the brush then no harm done, you at least had a little bit of fun.
