Paintings - page in process

Every painting starts with a walk in the countryside.  I take my time observing every shape, colour and texture.  I sometimes take photos but I do love sketching.  I call it scribble but its enough to give me a record of the landscape.  Its such an enjoyable part of the creative process.

When I'm back in the studio or at home I sometimes work on my sketch book to ensure I'm happy with composition and colours.  I then grab a canvas, small or large, dependent on my mood.  And from there I start to add paint.  Layers of abstract mixes of colour lead to the more precise elements such as trees and then I work on visual and physical texture.  Finally when the paint is dry I love to return to the scribble and find the shapes and textures in the painting with a paint pen.  The painting is then ready for me to tidy up. Paint the edges, attach hanging wire, sign and add any information on the back.  Now all it needs is for someone to fall in love with it and take to its forever home.

Please enjoy looking through my collections below.  Should you have any questions you are more than welcome to email me on nicolacrookart@gmail.com.

With kind regards

Nicola
